The operator will provide information about the previous owner, any bill of sale, and the make, model, and type of vehicle. Scrap metal operators can take all types of motor vehicles including trucks, atv's, motorcycles, and other recreational vehicles.
The vehicle being turned into the scrap yard must be at least 10 years or older and must be inoperable due to the vehicle being wrecked, extensively damaged, dismantled or otherwise mechanically inoperable. Information from the seller including a proof of ownership and valid driver license or state issued identification card must be included. If the vehicle is less than 20 years old, the Department of Revenue must be contacted for any existing liens. Any resale of the salvage materials by the scrap metal operator must include a junk certificate.
