Electric superheaters and reheaters can often be found in a power plant, in a steam engine, and in industrial facilities that produce syngas, hydrogen, carbon monoxide from hydrocarbon fuels, and other chemical compounds that require steam reforming. The types of superheaters include radiant, convection, and separately fired superheaters and typically are an adjunct to a boiler whereby the steam in a pipe from a boiler enters into a secondary chamber that is heated to a high temperature to add more heat to the already high-pressure steam system. While superheaters and reheaters have a higher efficiency rating than normal boilers or heaters, they do require increased maintenance and attention.
